DJI launches the OSMO…

DJI 1Two weeks ago we received a very cryptic message from DJI inviting us to a ‘product launch’ – but what product was this going to be?

We arrived at the launch a bit confused, not helped by the fact they were serving a strange looking blue cocktail in-keeping with their brand colour, each to their own! We then gathered round and saw a complex animation which was projected on a transparent screen whilst a man behind the screen was acting out the video through dance.

When this finished the PR Director for DJI came onto the stage holding up the OSMO and then we found out all we needed to know..

Lets begin with ‘what is the OSMO’?

The OSMO is a integrated, fully stabilised 4K camera. But DJI are claiming it is ‘much more than a camera’

From our first impressions it is more than a camera, you get a fully integrated device. The OSMO has 3-axis stabilisation included, enabling you to capture interesting shots easily, quickly and effectively. This lightweight and extremely portable device is quite astonishing to be honest – you can achieve a lot without even using both hands…

It is compatible with the DJI X5 pro & X5 Raw micro 4/3rds cameras!

The camera is controlled via the built in joystick, there is a trigger which allows you to change between multiple modes.

A really great feature of the OSMO is its compatibility with accessories including a wide number of extensions and mounts. You can mount it onto a car, a bike, on a tripod and more, not to forget you can add on a number of items to help you improve your shot such as a light or a smartphone.

The OSMO can be operated through a smartphone using the DJI Go app, mount this on the OSMO or take a few steps back, take in the whole scene and control from there. You can share you shots online straight away via the app

Oh and before we forget… You can achieve time-lapses, panoramas and even record slow motion at 120fps.

There are two incredibly attractive things we forgot to mention about this product… The price and availability

For the OSMO including the 4K Camera it is £549 including VAT! And they are due to ship from DJI to us in 7 days, thats the 15th October. WOW.

Another great announcement is that this will be available soon without the camera
